Day 6 in Bangkok - Meet with Dean :)

Today is just our normal day. Weather is nice as always (not too hot in the morning). We starts our day with normal breakfast--Tara loves the frying dough. It is like Beignets in New Orleans or Churos in Spain. Basically it is a frying dough. Tara calls it "Big Donut" Here in Bangkok, they will make it fresh every morning and it tastes really good. We always has it with fresh squeezed orange juice. Some people will dip it in sweet condenced milk...hmmm...yummm

After Breakfast, we just get ready for our swim lesson. Mommy enrolls Tara for private swim class here for 10 hrs. Mommy has to be in the pool with Tara too to help the instructor communicate with Tara since he is only speaking Thai. It is a nice pool just behind Yai's house. Mommy also get tummy exercise everytime Mommy goes to the pool with Tara :)

Then we go to meet Bua, my old roommate at OU. Tara has fun with her son, Dean. They just play with each other and I forget to take all the DimSum!! Boyd, they are so good. I've just got the pictures of the kids instead :) Enjoy

Day 5 in Bangkok - Salon Salon

After the family reunion party yesterday, today we decide to relax. Tara, Mommy and Yai go to the Mall, a big department store near Yai's house. Mommy needs haircut badly. So first thing first, we head to the salon. While Mommy gets the hairwash, Tara is watching. It is quite early, so there are a few customers in the store. So Mommy lets Tara has her hairwash professionaly as well...haha. Tara loves it and doesn't afraid at all. She loves to be pampered :)

Tara gets the real treatment from the salon :) and the hairstylist just braids her hair so nicely. The best part is it only costs Mommy $4 (including tips) for Tara's salon day!!!! UNBELIEVEABLE, isn't it?

Like I mention, it is a relaxing day. We just went to lunch at Japanese Restaurant and then took Tara to the play area in the Mall and she is so happy as you can see :)

Day 4 in Bangkok - Family Reunion

Today is our family reunion. We normally do this everytime when I visit Bangkok. It is really nice to see everyone and my new second cousin, Que. He is 9 months younger than Tara. I grew up playing with Que's father a lot since I was the only child for 11 years. We get together for lunch at my parents' house with lots of food as usual :)

Tara and Que are playing together nicely. Que is a little bit shy while Tara is approaching to him to play. Funny enough to see both of them interact to each other--one speaks English and one speaks Thai. Somehow, children always have a way to communicate to each other :) Tara is singing ABC song to Que and she changes the order of the alphabets. He told her that it is not correct!!! I brought a bubble machine for him as a gift and both of them have a blast :) Tara plays with the food cover and pretends that it is her helmet. She gots a water gun. So she and Que just takes off and plays.

Then after that my aunt and I bought Tara's 3rd birthday cake. Since we have 2 cakes and we have 2 kids in the party. So each of them gets to blow their own cake..without any fight...haha :) Tara loves the cheery on the top of her cake...that's all she eats :)

Then after the cake we just have our family pictures taken. We all have a great time and we will have another reunion again when Clint is here. This time we are going to have it at the beach for the whole weekend :)

I am very happy to be able to bring Tara and visit all my family here in Bangkok :)

Day 3 in BKK - Running around town :)

Let's start with our 3rd day, today we plan to do some of our errands. First we go straight to my mother's dress maker to get Tara measure for her flower girl dress for Aunt Mel's wedding this July :) Tara is so excited about getting her measurement done. She just acts like she knows what she is doing :) It is so funny to watch her getting measured. The dress should be ready for Tara to try on in about 2 weeks.

Then we head to one of the famous fresh markets in town. There are so many things to choose from. I couldn't decide what to eat. We came here to pick up some food for my family reunion on Sunday. There are tons of fresh fruits in season right now. I am very lucky. The one with the spike is called Durian which is Clint's least favorite...people used to say about this fruit that "it smells like hell but tastes like HEAVEN!!" I don't think there is no heaven for Clint when come to this fruit.

Anyway, the weather is getting hotter during the day. The highest today is 88 with TONS of humidity. Luckily, we didn't spend much time outside. Most of the places we go has air conditioning or nice big fan. After finishing running errands, we just head home to rest and getting the house ready for our big reunion :)

Day 2 in Bangkok -- Gustoso Italian Restaurant

This is our second day journey here in Bangkok. We started with the temp of 80 degrees in the morning!!! with humidity. Not so bad after couple of days, Tara and Mommy dress very Summery here :) Today we met with three of my aunts, uncle and one of my cousin. My Aunt Meo, Aunt Tim, and Uncle Narin came picked us up at the house around 10 a.m. and we headed to the mega mall in center of Bangkok called Central's World. It is actually located near the hotel that Mommy and Daddy married :) and it was the same place where Mommy and Daddy did the countdown in year 2000 (back then it was called World Trade Center). After we arrived we just go straight to Italian restaurant called Gustoso (meaning delicious in Italian) and it is so true to its name :))) There are various seating options, including wooden sofas with colorful cushions on the outdoor terrace.

My other aunt and my cousin joined us at the restaurant as well. We had a good time catching up and talked. Tara enjoyed all the food and music as she heard the music she stopped eating and then got up to dance (you know how's it goes)--I had it recorded in the movie mode which I will try to download it later (she did her aunt Mel's move too :)))

I promised you that I will write some about food. How could I not :) Look at what we ordered today :) (I also missed couple of dishes since they both gone before I took the pictures!!!)They all were very yummy with a reasonable price too. I forgot to take the picture of our dessert again. It was gone before I knew it... haha.

After our lunch, we went to shop a little bit in the Garment district near the mega mall but I didn't take any pictures. But we got a few stuffs and then we headed home since it was Tara's nap time (the same usual long nap 3 p.m.-11 p.m.). We had a big rain storm this evening which made the weather cooler a little bit. We didn't meet everyone in my family today so we decided that we will meet again this coming Sunday at my house. The Kulachol Reunion...I can't wait :))

Wish you all have a lovely weekend,

Much love,

Dear & Tara

Day 1 in Bangkok

Alright, Tara and I slept through the night after we chit chat with Yai who stayed up with us till 3 a.m. in the morning. We was up about 6.30 a.m. coz Ta came to say good morning before he left for his meeting this morning. We started our morning with a little walk to a tiny morning market behind Khun Yai's house for our breakfast. It was a nice walk and we got our breakfast fried dough and fresh squeeze orange juice--big bottle for 2 people for 85 cents. Then my mom bought red chicken curry for 5 day meals only $3 for all!!!! Oh my God! I don't think I can make it that cheap in the US. Anyway, I will write more about food here too...but later.

After our lovely breakfast, Tara opened some of her b-day gifts from Ta & Yai. She got a new pair of croc shoe and super babies from Dora's cartoon. There are many more gifts for her but we let her open a few gifts a day.

Then we went for lunch at the new strip mall near my house called Crystal Park. It is a very cute and modern strip mall with lots of stores. Tara had chicken spaghetti and then we checked out some classes for Tara but we don't think we like it that much. It is a cooking and art class together for 2 hrs/day for 5 days with English teacher. It is summer here in Thailand and kids are out of school for 3 months. So there are lots of activities for kids to do right now. The weather wasn't so bad but it is high humidity. So we thought after checking all the shops--fresh fruits smooties won't be so bad :) Then it was about 2 p.m. and then we headed home and took our nap. Mommy woke up after couple of hours and tried to wake Tara too...but Tara was too tried so she slept from 3 p.m. till 11 p.m. We are now just watching some show on TV and rest. We should fall sleep soon. We will adjust to the timing soon (I hope!!). Tara eats a lots of food. We just take it slow here day by day. Tomorrow my aunt will pick us up for lunch. I will write more tomorrow. That's it! our first day...just slow and easy but still fun. Her two uncles love to play with Tara all the times...I hope you all enjoy reading our story. I will write more. Love :)
